Akshay Kumar was born in Amritsar to a Punjabi family. His father’s name is Hari Om Bhatia and his mother is Aruna Bhatia. Akshay Kumar’s father was an army officer. His father was inclined towards wrestling. This probably fuelled Akshay’s interest in sports from a very young age. After spending his childhood in Chandni Chowk, the actor moved to Delhi after his father left the army to become an accountant in UNICEF. After the birth of his sister, Alka Bhatia, Akshay Kumar started living with his family in Koliwada which is a close-knitted Punjabi area in Mumbai. Akshay Kumar completed his schooling from Don Bosco School in Mumbai. The actor also started learning karate in this phase.
