Akshay Kumar who is seen promoting his Diwali release Housefull 4, recently took some time off from his busy schedule for a book launch. He launched the book The Swachh Bharat Revolution on October 1. The Toilet - Ek Prem Katha actor spoke vividly about the book and the cleanliness mission led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Akshay Kumar launches The Swachh Bharat Revolution book
The Swachh Bharat Revolution book details the progression of the Swachh Bharat initiative over the last five years. The honourable Prime Minister has penned the foreword of the book. The Swachh Bharat Revolution has been published by leading publishing house Harper Collins. The book includes success stories about the PM led cleanliness mission. At the launch, Akshay Kumar spoke about the Prime Minister’s contribution to the Swachh Bharat mission and the need for his support to such a mission. He said that he has never heard about a Prime Minister talking about toilets. Akshay Kumar has also written an essay in the book titled Toilet – A Love Story. Speaking about the issue of open defecation Akshay said that he did not work in a film named Toilet – Ek Prem Katha for commercial success but to send a message to fellow Indians.
The UNICEF representative of India Dr. Yasmin A Haque was also present at the book launch. She said that the children’s participation in the mission made it stronger. She further added that 22 million kids wrote letters to PM Narendra Modi on how they wanted to be a part of the movement and bring about the necessary change. After this comment made by Dr. Yasmin, Akshay joked that he already got the idea for the second instalment of his film Toilet - Ek Prem Katha.
The Swachh Bharat Revolution book details
In the foreword written by the Prime Minister, he mentions the announcement of the Swachh Bharat Mission. With the movement, PM Modi has become the first Prime Minister to openly acknowledge the problem of open defecation in India. The book includes essays by the late Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, actors Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, Microsoft owner Bill Gates and many more.
