Mission Mangal is based on the true events that took place in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). ISRO successfully launched the least expensive mission to Mars, the Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan). The movie is directed by Jagan Shakti and is written by industry legend R Balki. The multi-starrer movie stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menon, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, Sanjay Kapoor along with Vikram Gokhale and H.G.
