Alia Bhatt has done many roles in her eight years’ career. From playing a college girl in her debut movie, Student of the Year to playing an Indian spy in Raazi, audiences have always been vocal about her tremendous grown as an actor. In each movie, she is seen donning a different character. Whether it is playing a kidnapped but rebellious girl in Highway or bold Safeena in Gully Boy, the actor received much appreciation from fans as well as critics. Along with her hits, there also are few films of the actor that was rejected by the audience.

Gully Boy
Inspired from the life of Indian rappers Neazy and Divine, the movie stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead. Alia played Safeena Firdausi, an intelligent and bold girl. The short-tempered nature of Safeena and the way Alia portrayed it, was loved by many. The movie created a huge buzz and made the underground hip-hop famous. Recently, Gully Boy has been selected as Indian’s official entry in the 92nd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
Raazi
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie takes place during the Indo-Pakistan War in 1971, where a Kashmiri woman agrees to marry a Pakistani army officer to spy on Pakistan. Alia Bhatt as, Indian spy, Sehmat earned praises from everyone. The actor also won several awards for her role in the film. Vicky Kaushal played the Pakistani army officer Iqbal Syed. The audience adored the chemistry between Alia & Vicky.
Films that didn't do so well
Kalank
Alia Bhatt’s recent release, Kalank, did not match the audience’s expectations. Produced by Karan Johar, the movie was made on a huge budget and set around the time of the India-Pakistan partition. The star cast includes Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, and Kunal Khemu. The megastar cast also failed to save the film. However, Alia Bhatt as Roop was mesmerising in the film.
Shaandaar
Released in 2015, the film stars Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead. It is a story of two insomniacs who fall in love with each other. Shaandaar received negative reviews from both critics and audiences. Thought the audience found the fresh pair of Alia and Shahid cute on-screen, the movie was rejected and eventually failed at the box office. Songs from the films such as Gulaabo and Shaam Shaandaar were chartbusters.
