One of the recent movies of Ali Bhatt, Gully Boy released on February 14, 2019. The movie did extremely well at the box office. The total net gross of the movie was reportedly more than ₹ 1.34 billion. Alia Bhatt plays the lead role in the movie alongside Ranveer Singh. It is directorial by Zoya Akhtar. The story revolves around a coming-of-age story based on the lives of street rappers in Mumbai. The movie won several awards including the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards. The film also earned an entry to Oscars 2019 in the category of Best International Feature Film.

Raazi

The role of Ali Bhatt in Raazi is known to be one of the most powerful roles in her career till date. The movie was directed by Meghna Gulzar and features Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The movie released on May 11, 2018. Total collection of the movie was reportedly more than ₹ 122 crores. It is a story about a Kashmiri woman who agrees to marry a Pakistani army officer in order to spy on Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Alia Bhatt won awards at the International Indian Film Academy in the category of Best Actress in a leading role for Raazi.

Udta Punjab

Udta Punjab, directed by Abhishek Chaubey, released on June 17, 2016. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Ali Bhatt, and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. With a reported budget of ₹ 47 crores, the movie had a total collection of more than ₹ 58 crores. Alia Bhatt was appreciated widely for her intense performance in the movie. The movie is based on a story of drug abuse in the affluent north Indian State of Punjab and how the youth there have succumbed to it resulting in a socio-economic decline.
