Ameesha Patel is on the cusp of what could be a career-defining release. In 2001, the actress made herself a household name with her portrayal of Sakeena in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. 22 years later, the actress is all set to reprise the role albeit with the added pressure of living up to the Gadar legacy. The actress recently opened up about the same.

Ameesha Patel admits being jittery ahead of Gadar 2 release
In an interaction with IANS, Ameesha Patel admitted that even being on set was nervous experience for her. Patel shared how she has done her best to portray the character with sincerity. While she truly wanted to get back in to the skin of the character, the actress revealed that she has consciously tried to express changes Sakeena may have gone through over the course of the time passed.

Ameesha said, "It was really scary to wear the Sakeena uniform yet again but I think Sakeena lives in my blood she’s a character closest to my heart and Sakeena has embodied everything that she was in the first film in the sense lovable, pure, innocence character but with that she has kept her strength and respect and grown in her maturity for this new chapter of her life."
Ameesha Patel is nervous about living up to the Gadar legacy
Besides her own portrayal of Sakeena, the actress is also nervous about the film living up to the massive legacy that Gadar has sustained for itself over the decades. She acknowledged how every film release brings its own jitters but the case with Gadar 2 was extremely different owing to people's massive expectations. Ameesha said, "I am always very jittery before of very release of every film but when you have a sequel to one of India’s biggest hits and expectations riding high it does make you more nervous we have worked hard we have made a sincere film and now we can only hope and pray that the audiences give it as much love as they gave our first Gadar". Gadar 2 will be releasing in theatres on August 11.
