Ameesha Patel is currently basking in the success of her film Gadar 2. The actress is still on a promotional tour despite the film being declared a superhit. In a recent interview, she reminisced about the start of her career, as she achieved a significant milestone after the success of Gadar 2.

Ameesha Patel recalls the industry advice
Ameesha Patel got her big career break with the 2001 film Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai. The film was met with a positive response and did exceedingly well at the box office, However, in an interview with Pinkvilla, the lead actress talks about how the industry heavyweights were unsure the film would do well, but the director had faith in the actors Hrithik Roshan and her.

Ameesha recalled, “But everyone was against the launch because everyone had no faith in Hrithik (Roshan) because, at the same time, Mr Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek Bachchan was being launched, I was a non-filmy, he was being launched with Kareena so this was a very underdog project till of course Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai actually came to the screens." Ameesha Patel’s Kaho Naa..Pyaar Hai was released alongside Kareena Kapoor’s debut film Refugee and went on to fare better than it.

Ameesha also recalled that her maiden film was released a week after Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and a week before Mela. She says, “People asked Rakesh, 'How can you bring these two nobodies in between two hurricanes of films.'” She then claimed that it was the director Rakesh Roshan who had faith in the actors of his films and that is all they needed. She added that seeing the director ‘risking his career’ and his ‘son’s career’ with a new girl gave her the confidence to give her best for the film.
