Ayushmann Khurrana: Poster boy of Bollywood's content-driven movies
Ayushmann Khurrana seems to be keen to keep up with his knack of picking up content-driven films as Bala and Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan's promos surface.
Ayushmann Khurrana's career train is on in full speed and does not seem to halt anywhere before reaching success. Ayushmann’s journey in Bollywood has been full of hit movies and the actor is ready to add two more to his list of hits. The actor was last seen in the movie Dream Girl, which became a commercial success as its current collection reached ₹ 70 Crores.

The actor is known to pick up quirky scripts and content-driven movies. In an interview with a news channel, Ayushmann expressed his happiness on the fact that cinema is changing and that this change is accepted by the audience. The actor’s debut in Bollywood was with Vicky Donor in 2012, which was a film on sperm donation. With a subject like this, Ayushmann brought forward a different angle to look towards this subject.
The next topic that Ayushmann touched upon was the problems of fighting his own demons, and those of the society, after he is married to an overweight person. This was Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015, where Ayushmann played the role of Bhumi Pednekar’s husband. The film sent a good message to the audience that somebody’s weight does not define their worth. The movie was a semi-hit, according to Box Office India.
Ayushmann then came up with Shubh Mangal Savdhaan, which was released in 2017. This movie addressed the problem of erectile dysfunction. Ayushmann paired with Bhumi Pednekar once again for this movie. This movie by director R. S. Prasanna showed Ayushmann’s dedication towards his work as he played the character of Mudit Sharma excellently.
After Shubh Mangal Savdhaan, came the award-winning Andhadhun. This mystery adventure brought immense fame and appreciation for Ayushmann. At the National Film Awards, the movie won Best Feature Film in Hindi. Ayushmann’s acting in the movie also brought him the Extraordinary Performance of the Year award at the Zee Cine Awards.
Ayushmann’s next movie was Badhaai Ho in 2018 which was based on the theme of late pregnancy, as Ayushmann’s mother, played by Neena Gupta becomes pregnant. Khurrana then came up with Dream Girl in 2019, where he plays the role of a cross-gender as a male who speaks in the voice of a female to entice men.
Ayushmann’s upcoming movies are nothing less different than his previous works. The actor will be seen in Bala, which has a November 2019 release. Ayushmann’s character in Bala is suffering from premature balding. He has also announced Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan where Ayushmann will be seen romancing Jitendra Kumar as the movie deals with the theme of homosexuality.
