As important as making the film, is the date it releases, that's been the trend in B-Town nowadays. It’s not a surprise that dates of festivals and public holidays ensure better footfalls than other days and that’s why Bollywood filmmakers have been booking them in advance, sometimes even more than a year before. Not just that, it’s also important to get a solo release rather than see the screens getting shared with another release. That’s probably why there has been a lot of chopping and changing in terms of the release date of films for the months of October and November. The latest movies in this lot are ‘Bhoot Part 1: The Haunted Ship’ and ‘Bala.’ While the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer takes up the release date of the former, November 15, the Vicky Kaushal horror film will straightaway move to February 21 next year.
Clash much?
It had all started with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s ‘War’ and Sidharth Malhotra-Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Marjaavaan’ first being scheduled to clash on October 2. The makers of the latter decided to shift the release date to November 22. So, it was supposed to now clash with Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Bala’. So, the makers changed their plans and then shifted it to November 8.
Now, John Abraham-Anil Kapoor’s ‘Pagalpanti’ was slated to release on that date, so it was again a clash. The team of ‘Paagalpanti’ then changed their release date, to give ‘Marjaavaan’ a solo release, to November 22. Once again, it was a clash, since Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Bala’ was scheduled to this date. However, now it seems all are having solo releases, after ‘Bala’ got advanced by a week to take up ‘Bhoot Chapter 1: The Haunted Ship’s November 15 date. The horror film will release on February 21 next year, but that’s again a clash, since Amitabh Bachchan-Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Chehere’ is slated for the same date. However, unlike the aforementioned films which are releasing in the two months, there will be time for the makers of ‘Bhoot Part 1: The Haunted Ship’ and ‘Chehere’ to figure something out soon.
