Ayushmann Khurrana is on a roll that very few actors have enjoyed in their career. A run that started in 2017, and includes seven films, is continuing with a lot of firepower. Though some of these ventures were put in the ‘content-driven’ category and were not big hits as such, the actor’s films are also minting moolah at the box office of late. The Vicky Donor star with his latest Bala is once again gearing up for a big hit, with the comedy-drama hitting the Rs 75-crore mark after the first week. But that was not all, in terms of global collections, the film has crossed the Rs 100-crore mark.

After Dream Girl, which was Ayushmann’s highest-grosser at the box office, Bala too has also performed in a similar manner. After taking the highest opening of his career with Rs 10.15 crore, Bala showed impressive growth over the weekend, and pulled in Rs 18.07 crore on Sunday. On weekdays too, the movie was stable, going up on a public holiday Guru Nanak Jayanti on Tuesday, and completing the first week with collections of Rs 72.24 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Bala is fantastic... Plexes were super-strong... Collects in same range as #DreamGirl [Week 1: ₹ 72.20 cr]... Should score at multiplexes in Week 2... Fri 10.15 cr, Sat 15.73 cr, Sun 18.07 cr, Mon 8.26 cr, Tue 9.52 cr, Wed 5.20 cr, Thu 5.31 cr. Total: ₹ 72.24 cr. #India biz.”

While that’s on the domestic front, the makers also announced that the movie has hit the Rs 100-crore club globally.   Ayushmann conveyed his gratitude to his fans for the love given to the movie, “Aapke dher saare pyaar ka nateeja hai yeh. Tahe dil se shukriya. #Bala crosses the mark of 100 cr worldwide!”

The collections are in the same range as Dream Girl, and it’d now be interesting to see if Bala can cross Dream Girl to become Ayushmann’s highest-grosser. Even in the second week, the movie, also starring Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar, performed well, earning Rs 3.76 crore on its second Friday. With the figures, the movie also hit another milestone, crossing the Rs 75-crore mark, and now it stands with a collection of Rs 76 crore.
