The cricketing world has been blanketed in serious controversy over the past few days. The controversy in question was triggered by Hardik Pandya's misogynistic comments on 'Koffee With Karan'. Since then the cricketer has issued an apology but troubles seem to be only beginning for him and KL Rahul, who made an appearance with him on the show. Now it looks like things may be taking a really serious legal route and at this time, actress Swara Bhasker has shared her opinion on the matter.
Taking to Twitter, the actress expressed her take on the issue, stating that even though she is a staunch feminist, things may be going a little too far. Commenting on the CoA seeking Supreme Court intervention to mete out punishments to Pandya and Rahul, she commented that, "Being crass is not a crime".
She further questioned whether the courts in our country don't have anything better to do than interfere in such issues. Take a look at her post here:
The netizens too were generally in agreement with the actress' take on the matter. Here are some of their responses:
Initially, the duo was issued show cause notices and was left out of the Indian squad for the first ODI against Australia in Sydney. But soon after, they were called back to India and suspended till further action. Both Hardik and Rahul issued unconditional apologies, but the punishment for them is yet to be decided, with CoA members Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji clashing over how the case should be taken forward.
In the meantime, Sourav Ganguly, Sreesanth, Simon Taufel and other famous names in the cricketing world have come to the defence of the two players.
