Big furore over Mumbai Police allegedly blocking actor Payal Rohatgi on Twitter, Amruta Fadnavis also intervenes

Bollywood actress Payal Rohatgi slammed Mumbai Police for blocking her on a social media platform.

Big furore over Mumbai Police allegedly blocking actor Payal Rohatgi on Twitter, Amruta Fadnavis also intervenes

Bollywood actress Payal Rohatgi slammed Mumbai Police for blocking her on a social media platform. In a tweet, the actress shared a screenshot of the Mumbai Police's Twitter feed that read "Mumbai Police has blocked you". Alleging a communal angle, the actress stated that as a Hindu she is scared to live in the country and further accused the police of having a biased behaviour.

Her tweet read, "Why has@MumbaiPoliceblocked me? Are U BFF with drug accused jailed minority tag actor As a #Hindu I am scared to live in Hindustan if Police has such biased behaviour. Now I understand why my family tells me 2 stop talking 4 Hindus@Sangram_Sanjeet@PMOIndia@HMOIndia."

Mumbai Police was quick to clarify the matter in a tweet and stated that their technical team is solving the discrepancy. They also went on to say that they never restrict any sort of interaction with any Mumbaikar.

The tweet has garnered a lot of attention and seems to have also caught the eye of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavi's wife, Amruta Fadnavis. Tweeting in support of the actress, she wrote, "A citizen expressing personal views (not intending to hurt religious sentiments)on social media - should not be blocked by public entities/organisations. Request @MumbaiPolice to look into the issue of @Payal_Rohatgi" 

Meanwhile, Rohatgi has even written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the matter.
