However, there are some couples who ditched the usual fanfare and opted for a court wedding. Whatever the reason might be, here we have listed some of the Bollywood couples who chose court marriage over a big fat glitzy wedding.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini

Dharmendra was already a married man when he met 'Dream Girl' Hema Malini and fell in love with her. He already had two sons with his first wife Prakash Kaur. The good-looking couple eloped and solemnised a court marriage. Since his first wife wasn't ready to give him a divorce, Dharmendra reportedly converted into Islam to get married to Hema Malini. The couple got married in 1979.

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi

Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor's love story and chemistry are known to all, but their secret marriage shocked everyone during that time. Boney was already married to Mona Kapoor and had two children when he met Sridevi. It was reportedly during the making of the film Mr India, they got close. Boney Kapoor and Sridevi got married in court in June.

Padmini Kolhapure and Pradeep Sharma

Padmini Kolhapur and Pradeep Sharma met when the latter signed her for his film, Aisa Pyaar Kahan. Padmini’s parents didn’t agree with her decision of marrying Pradeep. The couple then decided to elope and get married in court. Padmini Kolhapure and Pradeep Sharma are happily married and have a son named Priyank.

Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta

Reena Dutta is a Hindu and Aamir Khan is a Muslim. They got married through court marriage, with three witnesses on April 18, 1986. The couple have two kids - Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. Their marriage lasted for 16 years. Later, in 2005  Aamir Khan married girlfriend Kiran Rao at his Pali Hill residence in Bandra.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan had a court wedding on September 12, 2012. The couple later took the wedding vows on October 16, 2012. From an intimate court marriage to a starry reception in the city, the couple made their marriage a rather grand affair.
