Boney Kapoor has been one of the most successful producers in Bollywood today. He debuted in Bollywood with Bapu’s Hum Paanch in 1980. In his 38-year-old career, he has produced numerous hit films like Mr. India, No Entry, Wanted, etc. On the occasion of his 64th birthday, which is on November 11, here is a look at some the films that he produced for his late wife, Sridevi.
1. Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993)
Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was one of the high-budgeted films at the time. The film starred Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, and Johnny Lever. Despite being made on such a large scale, the film was a commercial flop. Sridevi played a double role in the film.
2. Judaai (1997)
Judaai was a major commercial success and became the highest-grossing film of that year. The romance drama starred Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, and Urmila Matondkar in lead roles. The film was widely praised for the spectacular performance by Sridevi. She was also nominated or the Filmfare Best Actress Award that year.
3. Mr. India (1987)
Mr. India is one of the initial films to experiment with the subject of superheroes and is considered to be a cult classic till date. The film is extremely popular for Sridevi’s hit number, Hawa Hawaii. Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Amrish Puri, Ashok Kumar, Satish Kaushik, Ajit Vachani, and Sharat Saxena all together made the film a memorable one. The film is considered to be one of the greatest films in Bollywood of all time.
4. Mom (2017)
Mom traces the story of a humble school teacher who goes to great lengths to avenge her daughter when the judicial systems fail to. Starring Sridevi in the lead role, the film was directed by Ravi Udyawar. The film also starred Sajal Ali, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna and Adnan Siddiqui. The film won two National Film Awards including Best Actress and Best Background Score.
