Actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik says he has locked the script for the much-anticipated sequel to his 2003 blockbuster "Tere Naam", which featured superstar Salman Khan in the lead
2003 Bollywood film ‘Tere Naam’ is all set to have its sequel made as actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik said on Tuesday he has locked the script for the much-anticipated movie.
Previously starring Salman Khan, Kaushik added that he has not yet decided the cast for the film.
"We have the script ready. Though I can't reveal much about the film, I can say that it's a love story of a gangster. We haven't thought about the cast yet as we have just locked the script. We will get started with the film once work on my next production 'Kaagaz' is over," Kaushik told the media.
On being asked if he was willing to cast Khan for the 2003 film’s sequel, he denied approaching the 53-year-old star.
Touted as one of his most memorable performances, ‘Tere Naam’ gave Salman Khan’s career the much-needed push following the series of box-office debacles in the early 2000s.
Khan's look had become a rage among the viewers and his portrayal of college rowdy Radhe Mohan was well received by the audience. His typical center-parted hairstyle became a style statement.
The movie had also starred Bhumika Chawla and Bhojpuri actor-politician Ravi Kishan along with several hit numbers like 'Lagan Lagi', 'Kyun Kisi Ko', 'Odhni', 'Tumse Milna' besides the title song.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is all set to hit the theatres with his upcoming release 'Bharat' that is the official remake of a hit Korean classic 'Ode to my Father'.
Set in the backdrop of Indian Independence, 'Bharat' portrays the journey of a man named 'Bharat', played by Khan, in parallel with the journey of the country towards independence. With a tagline that reads: 'The journey of a man and a country together', the film features the actor in five different looks according to his age and profession as it follows his life from 1964 to 2010.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film also features Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Nora Fatehi in pivotal roles and is all set to hit the theatres on Eid in 2019.
