Vikrant Massey has become a household name after acting in several daily soaps, most popular being Balika Vadhu. He began his career in Bollywood in 2013 with Lootera, starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in lead. He has also gained fame from web series such as Mirzapur, Criminal Justice, and Made in Heaven. His commendable role of Bablu Bhaiya in Mirzapur won many hearts. The actor is now all set to star opposite Deepika Padukone in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. On working with Deepika Padukone

In an interview with a news daily, Vikrant shared that he is overwhelmed after being associated with the likes of Bollywood A-listers like Meghna Gulzar and Deepika. When he was informed that he got the role, he was excited and nervous at the same time, because he had never worked with Deepika Padukone. He said that working with a co-star of her calibre is not just a great opportunity but also came with responsibility.

Even though he had been part of commercial films, he said that he has a lot of responsibility since he plays of the primary characters in the film. He also added that he is looking forward to work with her. Vikrant also disclosed that he had to put on eight kgs to get into the shape of the character. He further added that he would gain three more kgs as the shooting will progress and have been eating anything and everything, from sweets and saturated fats to junk food.

Chhapaak is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, played by Deepika Padukone. Vikrant will essay the role of Laxmi's life partner and social activist Alok Dixit. Alok has been working with acid attack survivors for quite a long time now and has been through the struggles with Laxmi. Vikrant revealed that the film will showcase the dynamics between the two. The movie is slated to release on January 10, 2019.
