Deepika Padukone 'not surprised' by pregnancy rumours post fun comment
Deepika Padukone said she was 'not surprised' on pregnancy rumours after her 'Hi Daddie' comment on Ranveer Singh's Instagram video had set gossip mills abuzz.
When a Bollywood couple starts going out, the question for them is when will they make it official; when they make it official, the question is when are they getting married; and when they get married, the question is when are they having a baby. Rumours of ‘baby on the way’ start immediately and rumour mills spot the ‘bump’ when they get photographed in certain angles. In fact, any comment they make is considered a hint about the impending arrival. It was not any different for Deepika Padukone too. Since her marriage to Ranveer Singh in November last year, there have been rumours of her pregnancy, with fans wondering if she is expecting, seeing her in some outfits. The actor also fuelled these rumours when she wrote ‘Hi Daddie’ to her husband on social media. The Padmaavat star termed as ‘sad’ this ‘expectation’ that a society has from a newly married couple, but she was not surprised with the rumours. Deepika Padukone also said that they both love kids, but they don’t plan to extend their family due to their focus on their careers right now.
Deepika Padukone hits back over society norms
In a recent interview with a daily, Deepika Padukone said that it was ‘sad’ that the society puts couples in a ‘rut’, asking them when they’ll get married, then ask when will they have kids. The actor stated that it was an ‘expectation’ from them. The 33-year-old shared that’s why she was not ‘surprised’ by the rumours. Deepika Padukone also revealed that they both ‘love kids’. However, they ‘absolutely not’ plan to have kids in the near future, the Cocktail star revealed. Deepika Padukone then cleared the air by stating that they are not even thinking about kids at the moment because they are too ‘selfishly focussed’ on their careers.
This comment had sparked it:
This focus on the career includes a common film, ‘83 which is a film based on India’s historic World Cup win in 1983. While Ranveer plays the role of then captain and legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev, Deepika essays the character of his wife Romi Dev. Meanwhile, the duo has individual projects too, Ranveer is gearing for Karan Johar’s Takht and a film for mentor Adtiya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. Deepika will also have her first release in a while with Chhapaak.
