Fashion designer Masaba Gupta shared her story of dealing with anxiety on 'Here Comes The Sun', a welfare initiative by Alia Bhatt's sister Shaheen (who has written a book 'I've Never Been (Un)Happier'). Sharing her story, Masaba Gupta said that she had to learn to live with this feeling (anxious) and try not to get angry at herself for it. The 3-year-old also said that her anxiety comes from the need for validation. Read her full note below -
"While friends can be there for you, listen and even give you advice, you have to be able to do the same for yourself.
I think, for me, so much of my anxiety comes from the need for validation. People assume that being an artist, I can effortlessly put myself out there, but it’s tough. Every time I showcase my work, like anything else, it is critiqued. It’s like a part of me is being scrutinised.
I once overheard some work colleagues discussing their struggles with anxiety, and that entire conversation really hit home. I realised I felt similarly in multiple situations throughout my life. I started going to therapy, talking to people that were close to me. While all this helped, I knew that I couldn’t depend on others forever; I needed to help myself. So I taught myself how to do that. I constantly talked to myself about how I was feeling, so I could actually understand what was happening. I think that for me, the greatest antidote to anxiety is the acceptance of reality.
I’ve had to learn to live with this feeling and not get angry at myself for it, and every time I’m able to talk myself out of it, I count it as a win." - @masabagupta

Here Comes The Sun
On World Mental Health Day, Shaheen launched her initiative 'Here Comes The Sun' and said: "It was born from a simple idea. The idea that we are not alone. None of us are alone in our struggles and journeys with mental health - we all have the same fears and we all hope for the same things. Here comes the sun is a friendly voice reminding you that you aren’t alone, it’s an effort to raise awareness about mental health, to start a conversation, and to help end the taboo and the stigma surrounding it."
