Starting with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Disney started re-making of all of its classics as live-action movies. In 2019 only, Disney delivered four such adaptations: Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. But over the next several years, you’ll have even more familiar Disney movies. Disney movies that will go live-action next year
‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’: This is a sequel to 2014's live-action Disney villain tale. Reportedly, a sequel to Maleficent has been in development since the first part was released in 2014. The movie will explore the complex relationship between Maleficent and Aurora. The film features Elle Fanning, Angelina Jolie and many others. From this film, the Bollywood Diva, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to make an entry in the Disney Universe. She has lent her voice for the role of Maleficent in Hindi dubbing. Lady and the Tramp: Written by Andrew Bujalski and directed by Charlie Bean, this film is set to debut exclusively on Disney’s streaming service Disney+. So as per the reports, the film may not get a theatrical release. Justin Theroux and Janelle Monae will provide the canine voices for the film. The film is a live-action remake of 1995 animated classic which is based on the book 'Happy Dan, The Cynical Dog' by Ward Greene. The film is produced by Brigham Taylor who is also known for co-producing The Jungle Book. Watch the trailer here:
The Little Mermaid: This film was in the works for a long time but it is finally going to release. Rob Marshall of Disney’s Marry Poppins Return, is going to direct The Little Mermaid. According to reports, the singer Halle Bailey is playing the role of Ariel and Melissa McCarthy is going to play the role of Ursula. Also, the film will feature the iconic songs from the original 1989 movie. Production is expected to start in early 2020.
