Durga Puja: Rakesh Roshan makes first public appearance after recovery

Hrithik Roshan’s War is the talk of the town with a record-breaking opening weekend collection. With the movie’s success and before that, Super 30, the actor has bounced back brilliantly after over a two-year absence at the box office, and failures like Mohenjo Daro before that. His father Rakesh Roshan too is showing he is a true fighter as he fought cancer and emerged a winner. The veteran filmmaker made his first appearance after his recovery, as he stepped out with Hrithik to seek Goddess Durga’s blessings during the Durga Puja celebrations.

As the Navratri and Durga Puja celebrations are underway across the country and people of Indian-origin abroad, even Bollywood stars have been on a ‘pandal’-hopping spree for the festivities. While the Bengali stars like Kajol, Rani Mukerji, among others are regular, even those belonging to other communities join in the festive fervour. On Monday, the Roshans were the star attractions at a pandal in Juhu, Mumbai. While Hrithik has been spotted regularly, courtesy the intense promotions of War, it was a delightful sight to see Rakesh Roshan after so long. 

The Roshans were seen greeting the hosts of the Durga Puja, and the duo was seen praying in front of the beautiful Durga Ma statues.

Rakesh Roshan’s recovery 

It was in January this year that Hrithik Roshan had shared, in an inspirational post, that Rakesh Roshan is suffering from cancer. 

“Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldnt miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him. Love you Dad,” (sic) he had shared on Instagram. 

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had wished Rakesh Roshan for his speedy recovery. “Dear Hrithik, praying for the good health of Shri Rakesh Roshan Ji. He is a fighter and I am sure he will face this challenge with utmost courage,” the PM had tweeted.

After a few days, Hrithik had shared snaps where the duo and his mother Pinky Roshan were seen making their way out of the hospital after a successful surgery.  

“Cant stop. Wont stop. We begin again. And again,” read Hrithik’s text. 

After the super success of War, Hrithik Roshan will team up with Rakesh Roshan for Krrish 4.
