EXCLUSIVE | Tanushree Dutta says, "The whole willingness to take an FIR again was a deliberate strategy from Nana Patekar & police", after the probe is discontinued

Actor Tanushree Dutta on Thursday lashed out on the "corrupt" system after Mumbai Police informed a local court that it has no evidence to prosecute Nana Patekar in a molestation case lodged against him by her. 

The suburban Oshiwara police on Wednesday filed a 'B Summary' report before a metropolitan magistrate in Andheri, Deputy Commissioner of Police Paramjit Singh Dahiya told PTI.

A 'B Summary' report is filed when police do not find any evidence against the accused person to file a charge sheet and seek trial.

Dutta's complaint against Patekar last year sparked a nationwide '#MeToo' movement on social media.

Speaking to RepublicWorld, Tanushree spoke about the ongoing controversy and touched upon the topic about how the first ever voice of the #MeToo movement has been found to be with no merit.

"These were the same people who were so feverishly discrediting me even before I filed an FIR. My accusation against the 'Horn OK Pls' team and Nana is not dependent on any police or court," she said, going on to allege corruption, including 10 years earlier, and asking, "So what's new? I will stick by my story even 10 years from now." 

She continued, "And the #MeToo started because people are tired of this corruption and lack of justice so now it's up to everyone else to take it forward." And as for merit, for the nth time please watch my car attack video that is online before even bothering to say anything about my credibility.Shame on you people for saying this to me after all that I have endured.

Tanushree Dutta's lawyer also said "police acted negligently deliberately to protect Nana Patekar". When asked if there was a deliberate attempt to stiffle her voice, Tanushree exclusively told RepublicWorld: "Yes, infact the whole willingness to take an FIR again was a deliberate strategy from Nana and police — first take the FIR, then not take any action, then delay and manipulate investigation and in the end say that there was no evidence. So, people of this country, ask your conscience — what is the truth??

Dutta concluded by saying: "And I am still being harassed with all this drama while you still ask me to produce proof. This is why so many girls keep quiet. It is disgusting how the mentality of people in our country has become."

Dutta filed the complaint against Patekar in October 2018 in which she accused him of harassing and misbehaving with her while shooting a song on the sets of the film "Horn Ok Pleasss" in 2008.

She also alleged that during the shooting of the song sequence, Patekar inappropriately touched her even after she clearly mentioned that she would not perform lewd, vulgar or uncomfortable steps.

Patekar has denied all the allegations.

Based on Dutta's complaint, a case was registered against Patekar and three others -  choreographer Ganesh Acharya, the film's producer Samee Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang - for allegedly molesting Dutta on the sets of the movie.

The 'B Summary' report will absolve Acharya, Siddiqui and Sarang too of the charges.

The accused were booked under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), but no arrest was made so far
