Farhan Akhtar has stunned the audience yet again with a spectacular performance in his latest film, The Sky Is Pink. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and was directed by Shonali Bose. Farhan initially debuted as a director with the National Award-winning film, Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. However, he made his acting debut with Rock On!!
Born to writer parents, Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, Farhan was no different. Throughout his career, he has donned various hats including that of an actor, producer, singer and writer. He has also won various awards for his writing as well. Here are the best films for which he donned the dialogue writer’s hat.
1. Dil Chahta Hai (2001)
The coming of age comedy-drama film was Farhan Akhtar’s directorial debut into mainstream Bollywood cinema. He penned the dialogues, story and screenplay for Dil Chahta Hai. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. In addition to this, Farhan also bagged multiple awards that year for the best dialogues.
2. Rock On!! (2008)
Rock On!! was Farhan Akhtar’s debut as an actor in the film industry. He turned a singer, actor and producer for the film. The film gave the industry another versatile performer. A sequel to the film Rock On!! 2 was also released in 2016 for which Farhan was the dialogue writer as well.
3. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)
The 2011 hit comedy-drama film is counted as one of the best hits of Farhan Akhtar till date. The film won the hearts of the audience and critics as well. Farhan Akhtar wrote the dialogues for the film, which was directed by his sister Zoya Akhtar.
4. Don 2 (2011)
Farhan Akhtar penned the dialogues for the sequel to his 2006 hit thriller film, Don. Both the films were directed by Farhan. However, the latter was based on his father Javed Akhtar’s 1978 hit film of the same name. Don 2 also helped Farhan bag the Filmfare Award for The Best Director that year.
5. Talaash (2012)
Farhan Akhtar produced and wrote the dialogues for the 2012 psychological thriller. It was counted amongst one of the highest-grossing films of the year. The film is reportedly based on the 2010 Hollywood film, Rabbit Hole. The film stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Rani Mukerji in lead roles.
