Gadar 2 BO day 1 estimates: Sunny Deol film to be one of the biggest openers of 2023
Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel as Tara Singh and Sakeena, released in theatres on August 11 alongside the Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2.
Gadar 2, one of the biggest sequels in recent times, opened in theatres on August 11. It clashed at the box office with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and Meher Ramesh-directed Bhola Shankar. Interestingly, the Rajinikanth-led Tamil biggie Jailer had hit screens on Thursday, August 10.
3 things you need to know
- Gadar 2 is a sequel to the action drama Gadar (2001).
- It released along side Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 on August 11.
- It is directed by Anil Sharma.
Gadar 2 to emerge victorious with opening day numbers
Gadar 2 is all set to win the opening day war with Oh My God 2, according to film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi. He told Republic Digital that the day 1 collection of Sunny Deol's film is likely to be between Rs.35 crore and 40 crore.

The nostalgia factor coupled with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's return as the iconic duo of Tara Singh and Sakeena have apparently done the trick for Gadar 2. These day 1 estimates are not far from the predictions made by trade analyst Sumit Kadel, prior to the film’s release. Kadel had previously said to Republic Digital, "I am expecting Gadar 2 to open in the range of Rs 30-35 crore. I am expecting it to touch Rs 40 crores also. Depending on how many shows it gets, it may get affected. But Rs 30-35 crore opening is assured."
Things appear optimistic for the Indian box office this month
Gadar 2 is on track to put up terrific numbers on the first day. Jailer too has worked it magic. The Rajinikanth film emerged as the third biggest opener for Kollywood in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, OMG 2 too is expected to get a decent opening. It, however, won’t be able to match Gadar 2. All in all, August appears to be an eventful month for Indian cinema.
