Ghee Happy: Netflix announces new animated series on Hindu deities

In a move to expand its base in India, Netflix has announced an upcoming animation series, Ghee Happy. The series will revolve around Hindu deities like Kali, Krishna, Saraswati and Ganesha. The show will showcase a younger version of these deities. The show will also focus on how they discover their powers in a daycare for deities called Ghee Happy. Patel is well known for his work in Monsters Inc., Ratatouille, Cars, Toy Story 2 and The Incredibles series. He also helmed the short animated film Sanjay’s Super Team. It was also nominated for the Best Animated Short Film at the 88th Academy Awards. The series aims to provide an outlet for kids to learn more about the culture of India. He also expressed how it is important to let the world know about the various aspects of South Asian culture in mainstream global media. Patel who is now a father himself has taken it as a personal call to bring diverse stories to public platforms. Sanjay Patel also expressed his gratitude for letting him travel to India for the research of the series. Ghee Happy will be produced at Netflix’s animation studio in Hollywood.
