Gully Boy prepares for Oscars with Asian award, Farhan Akhtar jubilant
Ranveer Singh & Alia Bhatt's 'Gully Boy' has won the best film from India award in the regional finals at the Asian Academy Creative Awards ceremony.
After becoming India's first official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards, Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy has now won the best film from India award in the regional finals at the Asian Academy Creative Awards ceremony. To celebrate the same, Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar who has co-produced the venture with sister Zoya Akhtar took to social media and expressed happiness over the victory. He also congratulated the entire team in a tweet. "Gully Boy wins the best film from India in the regional finals of the Asian Academy Creative Awards. Congratulations team," he wrote.

Gully Boy
Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead is a film that draws inspiration from the lives of Mumbai street rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy and revolves around the underground rap movement in India. Besides the lead pair, the Zoya Akhtar directorial also stars Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles. In the flick, Ranveer Singh and Siddhant Chaturvedi play budding street rappers Murad and MC Sher from Mumbai's Dharavi, while Alia Bhatt essays the role of Safeena, an aspiring medical student in love with Murad.
Gully Boy which released on February 14, 2019, performed extremely well at the box office. Not just hitting the Rs 100-crore mark, the film earned around Rs 140 crore at the domestic box office. It was also the first film where Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt shared screen-space.

Meanwhile, As the Film Federation of Indian jury announced their decision of nominating Gully Boy for Oscars, Farhan Akhtar was extremely delighted and thanked the jury for the honour. Farhan Akhtar also had put out a post congratulating his team that also included Siddhanth Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin, and Ritesh Sidhwani.
