A lot of people believe that cutting your hair frequently will be beneficial by making your hair grow faster. But it is not true, as cutting the ends of the hair will not affect the follicles that are located way above in the scalp. This is confirmed by Paradi Mirmirani, MD, assistant professor of dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco.

This myth is not totally wrong, because one grey hair usually means more greys, but plucking the hair out will not result in multiple strands of grey hair. This would have started because when people plucked one grey hair, they noticed more afterwards, says Dr Piliang, MD Cleveland Clinic.

3. Brushing 100 strokes a day will make your hair healthier

People say that rigorous brushing will distribute the natural oils from your scalp to add shine to your hair or help improve blood circulation in your scalp, which is not true at all. Excessive brushing creates friction between the hair strands, leading to cuticle damage and breakage, which makes hair lacklustre and frizzy, says Mirmirani.
