Ranbir entered the Bollywood film industry in 2007 and instantly became a romantic hero. The actor’s various movies of the genre made him the romance star. But it seems that the Saawariya actor has been shedding this image of his and trying many new, challenging roles. Ranbir’s latest movies do not bring out the hopeless romantic in him, rather, they portray his excellent acting skills.
Ranbir Kapoor has been doing romantic as well as serious roles.
The actor’s latest movie Sanju was a biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt. Ranbir played the role of Sanjay in the movie. The movie didn’t focus much on love and romance. It majorly dealt with the troubles that Dutt had to face in between his court cases and personal life. The role was certainly challenging for Ranbir but he took it up and performed well.
Ranbir’s movie Tamasha in 2015 also dealt with themes other than romance. The movie focused more on mental health issues and a loss of oneself. His character, Ved, suffers from erratic behaviour and attempts to find his identity and, along with that, his story. Again, the romance factor in the movie as he starred alongside Deepika was minimal.
Other than Sanju and Tamasha, Ranbir’s Rockstar also had themes other than love and romance. Rockstar was instrumental in cementing Ranbir’s capability of working in unromantic roles. These movies certainly had romance in them, but the main focus was something different.
Ranbir’s next work Shamshera seems to be along similar lines. The movie is about a dacoit tribe from the 1800s. These dacoits fight for their independence against the British. Ranbir is playing the role of Shamshera in the movie. The movie is set to release on July 31, 2020. It is directed by Karan Malhotra.
