Veteran actor-director Kader Khan passed away in Canada on Monday and his death made us realise the massive loss that the film industry has suffered. Khan worked in more than 300 films in a career that spanned more than four decades, apart from writing dialogues and screenplays of several hit films.
While his numerous talents entertained fans over the years, his comic timing will probably be his feature that most Hindi film audiences connect with. The late actor usually played the roles of father, uncle, servant or other relatives who's grumpy most of the times. His irritation at his co-characters used to come out so effortlessly that it used to be hard to imagine he’d be anything but that in real life. His characters sometimes had a change of heart, which showcased his brilliant emotional range too.
Kader Khan’s comic timing with Govinda in numerous films of David Dhawan’s ‘No 1’ franchise and other films played a huge role in the pairing being one of the most loved on-screen pairings of all time.
Here we bring you the top five comedy scenes out of the hundreds of his hilarious videos which left us spoilt for choice:
‘Aag Aur Shola’ (1986)
Kader Khan plays a college lecturer and his troubles while taking the attendance of mischievous students is just too hilarious. The veteran delivers one-liners galore throughout this scene, which will leave you in splits. His brilliant change of expression from irritation to attraction when a new student enters the class, just showcased his versatility.

‘Coolie No 1’ (1995)
This scene explains why his partnership with Govinda was so successful over the years. Khan often played characters with grey shades having quirkiness, like in this film where he wants to get his daughter married to Govinda only because he seemed rich. His expressions in the manner his eyes light up at seeing Govinda’s business plan and his portrayal at the end when he talks into the camera might make you emotional today.

‘Judaai’ (1997)
The movie had an interesting plot of a wife, for the greed of money, lets her husband marry for the second time and brilliant lead actors, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Urmila Matondkar. But the movie’s comedy scenes are epic, courtesy Kader Khan, Johnny Lever, who played his son, and Paresh Rawal. Khans’s irritation at his son’s acting bug and how the latter even stages his father’s death for that purpose is just too funny. Khan leaving the overly inquisitive Paresh Rawal baffled with his string of questions is a must-watch.

‘Dulhe Raja’ (1998)
This was another movie where Govinda and Kader Khan were pitted against each other, but their conflict sparks laughs galore. Khan’s anger at Govinda opening a ‘family room’ is so evident that he forgets his own name while threatening him, and the former makes it look so natural.

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004)
Though Khan acted in films that released as late as 2017, one of his last notable films was Akshay Kumar-Salman Khan starrer ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’. The actor played a character who would be deaf, mute or blind on a given day. His portrayal of blindness, memory loss, one-liners and physical humour are on point in this hilarious scene also featuring Rajpal Yadav. The video also features two epic scenes, one from ‘Dulhe Raja’ and another from ‘Chhote Sarkar.’
