Kangana Ranaut has established herself as one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood today. She debuted in the industry with Anurag Basu’s Gangster. She also won a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her role in the film. She has received immense praise for her performances in films. She is also a three-time National Award winner.
Where was Kangana Ranaut before Bollywood?
According to an interview with a national daily, Kangana Ranaut revealed that she was born and brought up in a small town of Himachal Pradesh. In the same interview, Kangana has defined herself as "stubborn and rebellious". She initially had plans to become a doctor as her parents suggested that to her. However, she failed one of her chemistry subjects in 12th grade. This made the actor reconsider her career choices.
In the interview, Kangana Ranaut said that she then moved to Delhi in search of other career choices. This led to a disagreement and feud with her family. Her father also refused to help her financially.
Kangana Ranaut then landed a modelling assignment. She went on to do modelling for a few years after that. Kangana Ranaut said in the interview that she even tried her hand at theatre. Kangana Ranaut then shifted to Mumbai to make a place for herself in Bollywood.
Kangana Ranaut revealed in the interview that producer Mahesh Bhatt felt she was too young for her first role. The makers initially wanted to cast Chitrangada Singh instead. However, Singh backed out and Kangana was brought in as her replacement and the rest is history.
Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Prakash Kovelamudi’s Judgementall Hai Kya opposite Rajkummar Rao. Her next film is Razneesh Ghai’s Dhaakad. The film also stars Mimoh Chakraborty and Manoj Tiwari. The film is expected to release on Diwali 2020.
