Karan Tacker On #MeToo: Stop Mocking Women Who Are Narrating Their Stories

The #MeToo movement that has taken Bollywood by storm has now also moved to media, politics and sports with big names being accused. As more and more women share their horrific stories, there has also been a section of people who’ve questioned their claims. Veteran actor Asrani was among the celebrities who had said that women are joining the movement for publicity and promotion of their films.

However, Karan Tacker has come out in support of the women who are sharing their stories. The popular TV actor urged people to 'stop mocking women' who are narrating their stories. He lauded those who are coming out against the attackers by saying that it takes a whole amount of courage to come out in the open and express what they’ve been through. He said the least we could do is to be silent if we can’t support them back.

“I urge people to stop mocking women that are narrating their stories.. it takes a whole amount of courage to come out in the open and express what they’ve been through, the least we can do is be silent if not in support. #Metoo,” tweeted Karan on Saturday.

Starting off from Tanushree Dutta’s allegations against Nana Patekar, the #MeToo movement has led to several other names like Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan, Alok Nath, Bhushan Kumar, Subhash Ghai, among others being accused. An FIR was filed against Nana Patekar following Tanushree’s complaint, while police complaints have been filed against Subhash Ghai and Bhushan Kumar. Alok Nath has lodged a defamation case against Vinta Nanda, who accused him of rape.

Moreover, Sajid Khan has stepped down as director from the multi-starrer ‘Housefull 4’ and Aamir Khan has backed out from the film, ‘Mogul’, which was to be directed by Subhash Kapoor. There’s also no certainty on status of Vikas Bahl as director of Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Super 30’, which is slated for release on Republic Day next year. While celebrities give their battle a legal turn, masses take to their social media handles to share their very own experiences on #MeToo.
