Katrina Kaif’s birth and family

Kaif was born on July 16, 1983, to an Indian-British businessman named Mohammad Kaif and an English lawyer named Suzzane Turquotte. Katrina was born in Hong Kong but her family kept moving around and she reportedly lived in several different countries throughout her childhood. She also has seven siblings, four of who are elder to her while others are younger. Her only elder brother is named Michael, while her three elder sisters are Stephanie, Christine and Natasha. Her younger sisters are Melissa, Sonia and Isabel.

However, reports suggest that her parents reportedly divorced when she was a child. After that, her father left the family and shifted to the United States. She has often talked about the absence of her father. She said in an interview with an entertainment portal that it was her mother and elder siblings who took care of her while she was growing up and it was them who she credited for her upbringing.

After the separation, Kaif’s mother decided to become a social worker. That was the main cause of the family’s frequent relocation. Due to this, Kaif and her siblings were homeschooled for a long time. The actor lived in England for three years before she began her career as an actor.

Katrina Kaif's break into Bollywood

At the age of 14, Katrina started her career as a model. Indian director Kaizad Gustad saw Katrina in one such modelling event in London. He was impressed by Katrina and decided to give her a role in his directorial venture Boom. The movie was released in 2003 and was the actor's debut film. To resonate more with Indian audiences, she changed her last name to Kaif, which was the name of the father’s family. She initially used her mother’s last name before she became an actor.

Katrina was last seen in the blockbuster movie Bharat alongside Salman Khan. The actor will next be seen in the film Sooryavanshi which is directed by Rohit Shetty and also stars Akshay Kumar. The film is slated to release on March 27, 2020.
