Katrina Kaif: Take a look at how the Actress prepares for her roles
Katrina Kaif is one of the most sought after actors of Bollywood. She has chosen varied roles and we take a look at how she prepares for her characters onscreen
Katrina Kaif has been one of Bollywood's most sought after and popular actresses. Her Eid release with Salman Khan, Bharat, did well at the Indian box-office. This came as a respite to the actress, after her previous two releases, Zero with Shah Rukh Khan and Thugs Of Hindustan with Aamir Khan tanked at the box-office. Coincidentally, both of the releases were for 2018. Katrina is now gearing up for the much-anticipated release of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Sooryavanshi. The film is directed by Rohit Shetty and is slated for release on March 27, 2020.
Bharat released on June 5, 2019.
The Sooryavanshi actress is lauded for her well-maintained physique and her looks. Lately, she has also started receiving praise for her choice of roles. Although Zero did not perform well at the box-office, critics unanimously praised Katrina's performance as actress Babita Kumari. She did a lot to prepare for the role, which also won her a Filmfare Award nomination for the Best Supporting Actress. According to sources, Katrina read up on the stories of Hollywood actresses to bring more gravitas to her role. Demi Moore, for instance, has spoken at length about how she would constantly be having thoughts of self-destruction, regardless of the success that came her way. Katrina also read up on Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan’s rehab phase. She also referred to books like ‘Blackout’ and ‘More, Now, Again’ that includes stories of people at different stages of addiction and how they kicked the habit.
Katrina to reunite with Akshay Kumar after a decade
When Bharat released this year, Katrina, on her Instagram account, posted some snippets of her preparation for the role. In the film, she played Kumud Raina and she underwent various transformations for the role. Her performance was appreciated by the filmgoers and critics.
“I told to Ali that I’d join the cast only if the character is strong enough. Kumud Raina is that character. I experienced a great deal of prep work and went to workshops since this role was challenging. The character spans 40 years in the film. Likewise, it’s a big-budget holiday release, so it will come to a wide audience,” she had told the media during the promotional events for the film.
“I could not be right, but Bharat is the best role of my profession, on paper. There are occurrences when an actor doesn’t get too much of screen time in a Salman Khan-film. Be that as it may, I have been blessed to get films with strong roles,” she further added.
