Katrina Kaif Made Her Bollywood Debut With The Film Boom
But do you know that Katrina made her debut in Bollywood with the 2003 film, Boom? The film was directed by Kaizad Gustad and also starred stellar names like Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff and Gulshan Grover in lead roles. Katrina played a model in the film who gets embroiled in the nasty clutches of the underworld. The film, however, proved to be a failure at the box office and was also slammed by the critics. Katrina's performance in the film also received several brickbats. Reportedly Katrina Kaif has spoken in an interview about all the criticism she had received for Boom.
Katrina Was Also Seen In The Telugu Film Malliswari
Katrina Kaif said, "I don't count Boom among important happenings in my life. When I signed this film, I didn't know much about India and its film audience." Many filmmakers were hesitant to cast Katrina in their film due to the debacle of her debut film and her poor Hindi speaking skills. But the actor soon signed her second film which was the Telugu film, Malliswari. The film proved to be a commercial hit. But Katrina Kaif's first breakthrough endeavour in Bollywood was with the film, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya? where she starred opposite Salman Khan. The David Dhawan directorial film was a huge box office success. Since then, there was no looking back for the actor. She went on to star in many commercially successful films.
Today, Katrina has emerged as a creatively satisfied actor as she was praised for her performance in films like Bharat and Zero. Katrina played an alcoholic actress, Babita Kumari in Zero and critics lauded her act. She essayed the free-spirited Kumud Raina in Bharat where her performance along with the on-screen chemistry with Salman Khan received a lot of accolades. One of the critics wrote about her act in Zero and said, 'Katrina Kaif has delivered her best performance in #Zero.
