Upcoming action drama Laal Kaptaan is set to release across theatres in India on the 18^th of October 2019. The movie will star popular actor Saif Ali Khan alongside Sonakshi Sinha. Saif will play the role of Naga Sadhu, who is a merciless assassin on a hunt for revenge. The film is directed by Navdeep Singh and the official trailer for the movie was shared online today on the 24^th of September 2019.

Filming for Laal Kaptaan was done almost exclusively in Rajasthan. The streets, scenic locations and backgrounds were all shot under the hot sun of the desert state. Reportedly several different iconic locations from Rajasthan will be featured in the film. Why this location was chosen specifically is not certain, though it is probably due to the beautiful shooting locations available as well as the historical context of the area in relation to the movie’s plot.

In an interview, Saif shared his experiences while shooting for Laal Kaptaan. He actually got his ears pierced for the role of Naga Sadhu, which he was not very comfortable doing initially. He not only pierced his ears for the part but also had to grow his hair to fit the character looks. Due to the long hair and heavy makeup, Saif Ali Khan was rather uncomfortable during the shooting and the heat in Rajasthan at that time did not help his situation. He said that it could take up to 40 minutes to two hours just to get the makeup and hair done before shooting for the day even began. In relation to his character’s personality, he said that Naga Sadhu will be like an animal at heart and someone who is a flat-footed wild person.

Trailer for Laal Kaptaan was shared by Eros International, the film’s production company, on their official YouTube channel. The movie appears to be a period drama set during the British rule of India. The movie is already trending worldwide, especially after the trailer reveal. The director Navdeep Singh told PTI that the movie will be able to create a genre and narrative style of its own.
