Bollywood actors who got their start in the Southern film industry

Hindi film industry is not an easy place to reach as most actors through a long journey of hardships. There are a lot of actors in Hindi cinema who have started their career from regional cinema before getting popularity in Bollywood. Here is a list of five Bollywood actors who started their careers from the South industry.

Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai is one of the most influential Indian actors of the Indian cinema. She has even featured in International cinema and earned recognition. The actor started her career with 1997 Mani Ratnam’s political-drama film Iruvar. It was a super-hit at the box office and she was praised for her performance in a double role.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone made her Bollywood debut with the 2007 super-hit film Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan. But before entering into Hindi films, the actor led a successful modelling career and also starred in 2006 Kannada film Aishwarya which is directed by Indrajit Lankesh. She delivered a great performance in her first film and gained popularity in the Kannada cinema.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is one of the highest-paid actors in Hindi cinema. She was last seen this year in Bharat opposite Salman Khan. The film was a big hit at the box office. Before getting her big break in Bollywood, the actor starred in the Telugu film Malliswari in the year 2004 opposite Venkatesh. The film is directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar.

Asin

Asin is a former Indian actor who is known for her roles in blockbuster films Ready and Ghajini. The actor made her debut in films with the 2001 Malayalam film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka. She even won the Filmfare Award for The Best Female Debut. She got married to Delhi based business-man Rahul Sharma in 2016. The couple is blessed with a daughter named Arin.

Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon made her acting debut opposite famous Telugu star Mahesh Babu in the psychological thriller film 1: Nenokkadine. It is directed by Sukumar. In the same year, she made her debut in the Hindi film industry too, opposite Tiger Shroff in the super-hit film Heropanti.
