1. Sairat
Sairat is considered as a turning point in Marathi cinema. The romantic-drama is one of the highest-grossing films to cross the ₹ 100 crore mark worldwide. It is written and directed by Nagraj Manjule. The film was also premiered at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival. After its success at the box office, it was remade in Hindi with the title Dhadak under the banner of Dharma Productions.
2. Ek Gaadi Baaki Anadi
Ek Gaadi Baaki Anadi released in the year 1988. It is directed by Bipin Varti. The story revolves around a car that watches the murder of its owner and sets on to take revenge after years. It was later remade in Hindi as Taarzan: The Wonder Car by Abbas-Mustan. It features Ajay Devgn, Vatsal Sheth and Ayesh Takia in leading roles.
3. Bindhaast
Bindhaast is a 1999 thriller film that is directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni. The film received critical acclaim at the time of its release and was a hit. It was praised for its screenplay. The climax plot twist in the film was also used in popular Hindi film Bhagam Bhag which features Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Govinda in leading roles.
4. Pheka Pheki
Pheka Pheki is a popular Marathi comedy that revolves around misunderstandings and confusion. The film features Ashok Saraf and Laxmikant Berde in leading roles. It was later remade in Hindi cinema by Rohit Shetty as Golmaal Returns. It was the second part of the Golmaal franchise.
5. Poshter Boyz
Poshter Boyz is a comedy film that is based on a social issue. It received good reviews from the critics at the box office. The film was later remade in Hindi and was also the directorial debut of Shreyas Talpade. It was named as Poster Boys and features Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in the leading roles.
