Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor took to social media to clarify her earlier statement on Kangana Ranaut, where she reportedly said 'it's hard to take her seriously'. The actress took to Instagram and said that the 'Media misquoted her' and 'made other women react'. Sharing a doodle on her Instagram that read 'Stronger Together' the actress said that they should stand together and speak up, rather than pulling each other down with bitterness and negativity.
In the post, she wrote, "Women need to stand together! irresponsible media have misquoted me or taken my quote out of context and made other women react. All I want to say is that all I have is compassion and love for you. I’m proud of where I come from and so should every other woman or man. Let’s stand together and speak up. Let’s not pull each other down with bitterness and negativity. Love is always the answer. ☮️ 💖"
Here's the post:
Although the actress didn't mention Kangana's name directly in her post, it seems she referred to the 'Queen' actress.
Here's what happened earlier:
The Bollywood 'Me Too' movement that started with former Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta's allegations on veteran actor Nana Patekar for sexual harassment, has brought up several other names in the limelight, including the name of director Vikas Bahl who allegedly harassed a girl three years ago before the release of his film 'Bombay Velvet'. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who has worked with Vikas Bahl for one of her most celebrated films 'Queen' also supported her claims, as she revealed that on the sets of the 2014 film, he would "hold her really tight" and would "smell her hair".
Speaking about Kangana's stand on the sexual misconduct allegations against Vikas Bahl, Sonam at a recent event in Bengaluru allegedly said that the 'Queen' star says 'a lot of things and sometimes, it's hard to take her seriously'. Kangana, responding to Sonam's statement lashed out at her saying, 'Sonam has no right to judge and questioned her license of trusting some women and not the others'. The fierce actress further mentioned that Sonam isn’t known to be a great actress, neither does she have the reputation of being a good speaker. She also accused the 'Veere Di Wedding' star of enjoying privileges of nepotism as she is the daughter of Bollywood star Anil Kapoor.
