Manushi Chhillar: The proud Indian who won the Miss World 2017 crown

Manushi Chhillar brough India glory by winning the Miss World 2017 beauty pageant 17 years after Priyanka Chopra. Read on to know more about her life and goals.

India won the Miss World pageant after 17 years in 2017 and it was Manushi Chhillar who brought home the crown. The 20-year old’s Twitter bio reads â€˜dreamer and achiever’ and she is has tried to be exactly that. Manushi Chhillar is the sixth Indian representative to have won the pageant. Recently the Miss World also appeared on a Club Factory advertisement alongside Ranveer Singh.

Manushi Chhillar's early life

Manushi Chhillar was born on May 14, 1997 in Rohtak, Haryana. Her parents are Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, a scientist and Dr. Neelam Chhillar, Associate Professor and Department Head of Neurochemistry. She has two siblings, Dalmitra Chhillar and Dewangana Chhillar. Manushi Chhillar had completed her studies from St. Thomas School in New Delhi. She was also the state topper in English in 12th standard. Manushi had also attended the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonipat. She says that she was always focused on her studies and wanted to be a doctor.

Manushi Chhillar's beauty pageant journey

Manushi Chhillar entered the world of beauty pageants with Fbb Campus Princess 2016. She was crowned as one of the finalists. She went on to win the Fbb Femina Miss Haryana in April 2017. She then went on to win the annual Femina Miss India. She got the chance to represent India at the Miss World 2017 pageant winning the crown at a grand event in China. Manushi Chhillar’s win was celebrated all over India as everyone took to social media to congratulate her.

Manushi Chhillar's other achievements 

Manushi Chhillar is a trained classical singer and also a trained Kuchipudi dancer. She is also a gifted poet. She aimed to become a doctor before Miss India happened to her. Manushi is also actively associated with women’s health, safety and empowerment. Manushi is currently working on her project, Women Shakti. She has won several accolades. Will Manushi Chhillar join Bollywood?

In an interview with a news portal, when she was asked whether she wants to join Bollywood, the Miss World replied that she senses an actor in her. In a way, a doctor is similar to an actor and as her father told her, half of the patients are cured by how a doctor makes them feel. Even while touring for Miss World pageant, Manushi said she felt like breaking down seeing some people. But she had to keep her smile on and spread happiness. Manushi Chhillar has no qualms in joining Bollywood but she feels that she needs to fulfil some responsibilities first.
