The Rani Mukerji-starrer Mardaani which released in the year 2014 received a lot of accolades for its powerful storyline and the flawless performance of its lead actress. Now five years later, the makers are back with the sequel of the film titled Mardaani 2. Rani Mukerji is once again, all set to entice audiences as the free-spirited cop Shivani Shivaji Roy. The makers of the film recently unveiled the first poster and the teaser of the film. The film is helmed by Gopi Puthran. Rani Mukerji is looking fierce and intense in the first look of the film.

The teaser of the film sees Rani Mukerji perform some high octane action sequences

The teaser of the film shows Rani Mukerji leading some police officers to a supposed crime scene. She can be seen hitting a man with a belt and voicing out the dialogues, "Ab tu kisi ladki ko hath laga ke dikha, tujhe itna marungi ki teri twacha se teri umar ka pata nahi chalega." By these intense dialogues, it is inevitable that this time too, Shivani Shivaji Roy's fight will be for women who have been victims of a crime. The makers are going by the hashtag #shewontstop to promote the film. Netizens gave a huge thumbs-up to the teaser of the film.

The makers of the film also released the first poster. The poster shows Rani Mukerji as Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy sporting an intense gaze at a police station. Rani is doing full justice to the fiery cop look. Rani Mukerji made the official announcement about the film in December last year. In an earlier interview, Rani described the film to be very close to her heart. She also revealed that after the release of Mardaani, everyone was eager to know when will she be doing the sequel for the film. The actor went on to say that filmmaker Gopi Puthran had penned down an extraordinary script. The first film had seen Rani Mukerji battling against a notorious human trafficking racket. The film Mardaani 2 will see her lock horns with a new antagonist this time. The earlier film Mardaani had seen Tahir Raj Bhasin essay the role of the main antagonist. The film is produced by Yash Raj Films. It will be releasing on December 13, 2019.
