For a while, television actors have been proving that they deserve to be featured on the silver screen. After Naagin fame actor Mouni Roy, another known face from TV, Mrunal Thakur is gearing up to flaunt her acting skills alongside Bollywood actors for the third time. After gaining a positive response from the critics and the audience for her performances in the 2019's hit films Batla House and Super 30, Mrunal will soon share screen space with Shahid Kapoor in his upcoming sports-drama Jersey. The actor has come a long way from being a supporting character in a TV serial to playing the leading lady of a Bollywood project.
Thakur also essayed Gauri Bhosle, the main female lead opposite Mohit Sehgal, in the TV series Mujhse Kuchh Kehti... Hai Khamoshiyaan that aired from 2012–13. In 2013, she appeared in the mystery-thriller Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek – Arjun, in which she played a journalist. It was Zee TV's popular soap opera Kumkum Bhagya in 2014 that gave her a major break in the TV industry. She played the role of the younger sister of the lead character Pragya played by Sriti Jha. After quitting the show in January 2016, she was last seen performing a dance in a special episode of &TV's show SauBhagyalaxmi. Reportedly she took retirement from TV after that.
She kickstarted her film career with 2017's critically acclaimed film Love Sonia. Thakur played the character of a village girl, who brings the issue of human trafficking in the light. Though the film was commercially a debacle, her performance garnered a positive response. Currently, she is busy shooting for her upcoming projects including Toofan and Ghost Stories.
