Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an Indian film actor who has done some critically acclaimed Independent films ever since the beginning of his career. It is not common to see big Bollywood stars do small budget films that often have to battle to be screened on multiple big screens. Nawazuddin says it gets difficult for indie films to be declared as hits because of their budget and adds that he does not get affected by the budget of a film with a strong script. Dekh Indian Circus
The film shows rural India's struggle to access the supposed economic miracle of an East Asian nation in a very metaphorical way. The film is directed by Mangesh Hadawale and was made with a very small budget. Nawaz is seen playing the role of a father, Jethu, in the film. The film was released in the year 2011 and received a lot of audience and critic appreciation.
Carbon: The Story of Tomorrow
This is not a full-length film but a great take on spreading awareness about global warming. The short film is 24 minutes long and written and directed by the duo Maitrey Bajpai and Ramiz Ilham Khan. The film is a science fiction drama set in 2026 where Carbon is the gas in abundance and Oxygen is supplied by industries.

Haraamkhor
This film was made in a small budget of 2.25 crore INR and managed to collect more than its basic capital investment. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Shyam, a teacher who falls in love with his student, Sandhya. The film was appreciated by the critics and the lead managed to score the Best Actor award at the NYIFF. The film was written and directed by Shlok Sharma and released in the year 2015.
