Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an actor who loves to portray characters that come with a layered personality, no wonder audiences feel that he has been able to display such a stellar range of performances. The Raman Raghav 2.0 actor has not only worked for Bollywood films and a web series but for several international projects as well. The actor in several interviews has mentioned his love for acting as a craft and the satisfaction he feels after playing his roles. In an interview with an entertainment news portal, Naawazuddin spoke about his mindset regarding five scenes from five of his films.
Gangs of Wasseypur II - Faizal
The interaction between Nawazuddin’s character Faizal and Huma’s character Mohsina was inspired by his real-life, said Nawazuddin. He further went on to explain the incident and also revealed that he derived inspiration for Faizal’s character through people from his village who had a higher authority over the villagers and a certain demeanour in the way they carried themselves. Faizal has gone on to win a permanent place in audiences' hearts making Gangs of Wasseypur unforgettable as well.
The Lunchbox - Shaikh
Nawazuddin played the character of Shaikh, a colleague to Irrfan’s character Saajan in the office. Nawazuddin narrated another story and mentioned that an old friend of his inspired the character. The Kick actor shared that he had challenged himself not to shed a tear for this specific scene but feel the character’s pain of being an orphan and the helplessness that tags along.
Kick - Shiv Gajra
Nobody can forget the boisterous laugh of Nawazuddin Siddiqui from this movie. Nawazuddin explained that Manoj Bajpayee’s character from Aks inspired Shiv Gajra's laugh. The actor also added that every character tends to convey his/her needs, and that’s how an actor, according to his ability and the director’s vision, decides the personality of the character.
Raman Raghav 2.0 - Ramanna (Raman)
Nawazuddin revealed that he went to a remote hotel in Lonavla and prepared for this role. The actor further explained that he had to channel a dark side that wants to kill people without a vendetta. Nawazuddin tested his character’s personality by staring at people from the village the way he imagined Raman would do. His attempt was successful, and people seemed intimidated and tried to steer clear from his path, said the actor.
Haraamkhor (Shyam)
Nawazuddin Siddiqui played the role of a teacher named Shyam in this movie who has an affair with his student Sandhya. Nawazuddin said that a teacher at his school inspired the character. He further explained that this character helped him play somebody who has different layers to his personality and believes in fantasies.
