New Don lead Ranveer Singh gets a shout-out from OG star Zeenat Aman: 'May you find...'

The next installment of the Don franchise had been one of the most awaited projects of recent years. Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who had earlier directed Don and Don 2, took to his social media handle on Tuesday afternoon to announce that Ranveer Singh would be the new lead for Don franchise. The official announcement was followed by a teaser post on Wednesday where Ranveer Singh is introduced as the star chosen to reprise the iconic figure.

The development has already created a lot of buzz, and fans could be seen all over social media speculating whether Ranveer Singh would be able to do justice to the iconic character. Meanwhile, the Bajirao Mastani actor has now received a congratulatory message from none other than Zeenat Aman, the female lead of the original Don film.

Earlier today, Ranveer Singh had made a post on his social media, thanking his fans and Don producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for this opportunity. He added, “I hope I can deliver on your faith and condition.” Under the same post, Zeenat Aman posted a comment, saying, “Congratulations Ranveer! May you find a worthy “Jungly Billi” to your Don.”

The 'Jungli Billi' reference in Aman’s comment comes from one of the signature dialogues from the original Don, where Amitabh Bachchan’s character often referred to Zeenat Aman’s Roma as ‘Jungli Billi.’ The same reference was retained in the 2006-remake and its sequel directed by Farhan Akhtar, where Priyanka Chopra’s character had the ‘Jungli Billi’ monicker given to her by the evil protagonist.
