Celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, PM Modi held a gathering at his official residence that was attended by several Bollywood celebrities
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was elected to power the first time, one of his first initiatives was the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, taking forward the message of cleanliness, synonymous with Mahatma Gandhi. The symbol of the mission was his glasses, launched on the leader’s 145th birth anniversary. With the Prime Minister’s return to power this year, once again, PM Modi launched a big initiative, the fight against single-use plastic, on Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary on October 2.
Celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, PM Modi held a gathering at his official residence that was attended by several Bollywood celebrities and Sonam Kapoor was among them. Sharing pictures from the event, The Zoya Factor actress stated that it has been 150 years and the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi will be engraved for a lifetime. "Celebrate the Mahatma, the unity he stood for and the world he saw for us!", she concluded.

Apart from Kapoor, celebs in the likes of Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Kangana Ranaut, Anand L Rai, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Sonam Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Nigam, Ekta Kapoor. Prime Minister urged the film and entertainment industry to channelize its energy to make entertaining, inspiring creatives that can motivate the ordinary citizens. He reminded them of their immense potential and their ability to bring about positive transformation in society.

Meanwhile, in a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi to mark his 150th birth anniversary, Indian Embassy in France announced the release of a postage stamp. Partnering with French postal service company La Poste, the stamp has been released prices at €1.30. They released the stamp on Wednesday. The stamp bears a quote by Gandhi - "God is truth".
