Switching gears from the action and vigilante films, John Abraham will be seen in the comedy movie Pagalpanti which will release later this year. Reportedly, John has said that he tried his best to grow in the comedy genre. Pagalpanti features Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’cruz, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela, and Saurabh Shukla. Anees Bazmee has posted behind-the-scenes photos of the actors from the film sets. He captioned it, stating, “Thodi #Pagalpanti aur kar di.” Actor Arshad Warsi also replied on the same post. Reportedly, the film's release date was rescheduled from December 2019 to November 22, 2019, and now to November 8. Anees also posted another picture on his social handle. “Who needs a selfie sticks when you have the John Abraham on set.”

John on changing the genre of comedy
John, in a recent interview, said that in Pagalpanti, we would see his body language and realise it’s not the same John. He added that he has attempted to improve the genre by "leaps and bounds". Stating that he was excited about Pagalpanti, he said that he believes cinema is about entertainment and making people laugh. He went on to say that if he could make that happen, it would be amazing to watch.
The movie is helmed by the director Anees Bazmee. John and Anees will be working together after three years after Welcome Back in 2015. The movie is produced by T-series, Panorama Studio and co-produced by Aditya Chowsey and Sanjeev Joshi. The movie is filmed at various locations like London and locales across England.
