Parinda throwback: Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor reminisce 'hard' scenes
As they celebrated 30 years of their hit film Parinda, the makers shared some trivia and memories from behind-the-scenes; went down memory lane with the actors
It has been 30 years since the release of Bollywood's iconic film Parinda which starred actors Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar and Madhuri Dixit. The film made a statement as it portrayed the workings of the underworld very realistically. The film paved the way to stardom for not just these actors but also for director Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
To honour the movie after 30 years of its release, the production house Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films has shared many videos through its social media handle. In one of the videos, Jackie Shroff recalled an interesting anecdote from 30 years ago and stated that he had to slap Anil Kapoor, who played his younger brother in the movie, 17 times in order to get the scene right. The scene is shown in the video repeatedly.
Here is the post shared by the makers:
This film has the iconic Ram Lakhan duo of actors Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff as brothers. In the video, Jackie Shroff revealed that Anil Kapoor wanted the scene, where he is slapped by Jackie Shroff's character, to be executed with such perfection that the director had to re-take the shot 17 times. Jackie said that he had to actually slap Anil Kapoor to capture his reaction properly.
An iconic movie
Parinda was a trendsetter for not just its storyline and dialogues but also for its songs. The song 'Tumse milke aisa laga' is one of the most popular romantic Bollywood songs of all times. Nana Patekar went on to win the National Award for his role in Parinda. Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor also performed brilliantly in their roles as brothers Kishan and Karan respectively.
What's next for Vidhu Vinod Chopra?
Vidhu Vinod Chopra produced many successful films like the Munnabhai films, 3 Idiots, PK, Wazir amongst others. After producing the Sonam Kapoor-starrer Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga this year, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is set to make a directorial comeback with 'Shikara' next year. The film is supposedly based on the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and will be shot extensively in the valleys of the north. Taran Adarsh had announced the film on social media earlier this year.
