Kate Sharma has taken back her sexual harassment complaint against veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai, expressing annoyance with the way the case has been handled by the police. The actress has written to the DN Nagar police station in Mumbai to withdraw her complaint. She explained that she wanted to take care of her ailing mother and that her family members are disturbed since the time she decided to speak out against the director.

As per reports, a senior police officer revealed that they were informed about Kate’s decision when they approached her to record a statement on the matter. The actress then told a tabloid that she had not informed her family about the case, and they got disturbed when they saw her name coming up in the news. She added that it was not possible for her to ‘roam around here and there’ to get justice when her mother is not well.

The actress said that people have been mocking the #MeToo movement as not even one of the accused celebrities has been arrested. Kate also stated that when the police approached her to register an FIR, she was not keen to go ahead as she had opened up on whatever she had to say to the people via media. She also said that she was very good friends with Ghai once upon a time, but he had ‘destroyed’ everything. She added that she was ‘fed up’ with her decision to take action against Ghai and so withdrew her case.

Kate had earlier stated that Ghai asked her to massage him on August 6 at a private party where many other guests were also present, after which he allegedly touched her inappropriately and forcibly tried to kiss her. Previously, another woman had accused Ghai of drugging and raping her.

Ghai had denied all the allegations saying, "It’s very sad that it’s becoming a fashion to malign anyone known to bring some stories from the past without any truth or half-truth if at all."
