Pooja Bhatt Reveals Aashiqui was based on her parents Mahesh Bhatt-Kiran's love story

Pooja Bhatt in a candid conversation with a co-participant in a reality show opened up about her parents Mahesh Bhatt and Kiran Bhatt (Lorraine Bright)'s love story. Pooja was speaking to Bebika Dhurve when she revealed that Aashiqui (1990) was based on her parents' love story.

How Mahesh Bhatt met Kiran Bhatt?

Pooja Bhatt, during the reality show, revealed her mother used to study in a boarding school, and her father, Mahesh Bhatt, used to live opposite the school. Once he had gone to the school to attend the sports day, he saw Kiran from a distance and fell in love with her. The same evening, he jumped the school's wall to find her but got caught. The principal called Pooja's grandmother (Kiran's mother) and explained the situation.

Kiran's mother then asked Mahesh Bhatt, "If you are so big that you can climb a wall to meet my daughter, then you take the responsibility of my daughter." Pooja added, "My father agreed to take the responsibility at that young age. My mother was in her last year of school. Since then, he has taken my mother’s responsibility and never left her alone."

Why are Mahesh Bhatt and Kiran Bhatt separated?

Talking about her parents' separation, Pooja didn't reveal much but said, "We have a second family, and that’s how relationships should be." Mahesh Bhatt, in 1986, got married to Soni Razdan, and together they have two daughters, Shaheen and Alia. Pooja Bhatt shares a close bond with her half-sisters, Alia and Shaheen Bhatt. They are often snapped celebrating the festivals together.
