Diljit Dosanjh's controversy:
Bollywood singer Diljit Dosanjh has been asked by the Federation of Western Cine Employees (FWICE) to cancel his show at the United States on September 21 keeping in mind the 'sentiments and the dignity of the nation', as the event is being promoted by Rehan Siddiqi, who is of Pakistani origin.
In a letter dated 6th September and addressed to Diljit Dosanjh, the FWICE have clearly stated that through the document they want to draw attention to the 'unbridled race of Artists/Singers/Dancers and Performers' as they have been informed about the invitation of Rehan Siddiqi to him (Dosanjh) for a stage performance as a singer in America
Diljit responds:
Bollywood singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh responded to FWICE's letter stating that he was not aware of any such 'intimidation' by the federation before today and that his contract is with Shri. Balaji Entertainment only and not with Mr. Rehan Siddiqi as mentioned by the film body.
He went on to add that given the circumstances right now, he would be postponing his US tour and concluded stating, "I love my country and will always stand for the greater interest of the nation, India. Always"
Prior controversy:
Midway last month, news surfaced that Mika Singh had performed in Karachi with his troupe to perform at the wedding ceremony of the influential billionaire's daughter who is said to be close to Musharraf. The singer reportedly performed on August 8 at the ceremony and his presence in the city came to light when some guests uploaded videos of his performance on social media. This did not sit well with netizens and fans who revolted over the idea and called him a 'traitor' on social media.
After the social media uproar, FWICE and AICWA banned the artist. The former even went ahead to say that any artist who works with Mika Singh will be banned henceforth. This was said in reference to the six-day gig that Mika Singh was all set to embark on along with Salman Khan. He was all set to join the group from the Houston leg of the tour.
