Who is 'Mimi’?
In an interview to an online portal, Priyanka revealed her nickname, ‘Mimi’. PeeCee revealed that she was named after French actor Mimi Rogers. Priyanka Chopra’s mother kept the name for her. It was revealed in the interview that when Priyanka won the Miss World title and went back to her hometown, there were posters which said ‘We are proud of you, Mimi’.
It was also revealed that her actual nickname was ‘Mitthoo’. Priyanka Chopra said that she got the nickname because she was a total chatterbox. She would mimic and repeat people. So her dad, Ashok Chopra called her so as a joke. She thought that the name was very tacky and hence, changed it to Mimi.
Priyanka Chopra recalled how one day she came back from school and told her parents that she does not want to be called ‘Mitthoo’. She told them that she’d rather be called ‘Mimi’. Priyanka revealed that her mother then said that she will be called after the French actor thereafter.
Priyanka Chopra said that the name 'Mimi' has stayed with her always. All of her cousins still call her ‘Mimi Didi’. Priyanka Chopra joked about how she went from Goregaon to Gucci with the name. She also said that Punjabis have weird nicknames.
